Non-credit Learning at UBC Okanagan

Continuing and Professional Education offer non-credit learning opportunities outside the traditional degree programs that provide a distinct learning environment with key differences from degree (for credit) courses and programs.

Instruction & Grading

CPE Learners are graded according to the course and program specifics provided in the course syllabus. Learners can access their transcripts and final grades through UBCO’s Canvas Catalog dashboard.

University Resources

CPE Learners are not able to access select resources available at UBC Okanagan students and are not eligible for student resources and benefits such as the UBC Library system, UPASS. Please review your course details for information about what’s accessible to you. CPE courses and programs are not transferable towards undergraduate or graduate degree credit

Credentials

UBC Okanagan offers several types of non-credit credentials upon completion of CPE courses and programs. Non-credit credentials are defined by UBC Okanagan Senate policy O-129.

Non-credit Studies for Lifelong Learners (Ages 65+)

The University of British Columbia currently offers lifelong learners ages 65+ the opportunity to take most UBC credit (degree related) courses for general interest, free of application, tuition or student fees. Some conditions apply. However, this does not extend to non-credit micro-credentials offered through UBC Okanagan’s Continuing & Professional Education. To find out more information about applicable UBC credit courses, please visit the Access Studies page on the UBC Student Services website.
